Why TWC

Why study at Tung Wah College HK?

Tung Wah College is a practical, career-focused institution: programmes are built around real work experience, backed by one of Hong Kong’s largest charitable healthcare networks, and the College is on a clear path toward private university status.

Five reasons students choose TWC

Strong graduate employment

TWC focuses on professions and skills that employers need. In TWC’s 2024 graduate survey, 78% of graduates secured jobs and 8.8% continued their studies upon graduation (669 respondents; ~88% response rate).[1]

Record-high graduate salaries

Overall average monthly salary of graduates in 2025: over HK$33,000 — as published in TWC’s official 2027/28 material.[2] Supporting detail from TWC’s own 2025 graduate survey (published March 2026): the average monthly salary was HK$33,885 and the median monthly income HK$35,667 — both record highs in TWC’s published survey series — and about 82% of graduates earned over HK$30,000 per month.[2]

Practical experience — internships built in

TWC programmes are practical and application-focused (職業導向). Every TWC bachelor’s degree student must complete the Work-Integrated Learning Programme (WILP) — a graduation requirement for students admitted since 2015. Depending on the programme, WILP takes the form of practicum, internship or industrial attachment; internships are discipline-related, and employers provide an allowance.[3]

Strong industry network

TWC was founded by the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals (TWGHs), one of Hong Kong’s largest and longest-serving charitable groups, with extensive medical, health and community services. TWC has signed cooperation agreements with institutions in places including Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Japan, Georgia and Turkey, supporting overseas exchanges, internships and service-learning; its Smart Health Applied Research Centre partners with Guangdong Medical Valley, and TWC works with local and Greater Bay Area enterprises on internships and learning opportunities.[4]

On the path to private university status

TWC is on the government’s “Roadmap for Becoming a Private University”. It completed its HKCAAVQ Institutional Review in 2026 and, per TWC’s July 2026 announcement, expects to submit its application for university title (including University of Applied Sciences status) within 2026. The title is granted by the Chief Executive-in-Council; until then TWC remains Tung Wah College. TWC is already an associate member of the Alliance of Universities of Applied Sciences (UAS).[5]

Four urban Kowloon campuses

King’s Park (Ho Man Tin), Mongkok, Kwai Hing and Tsim Sha Tsui — all MTR-connected urban locations, with the Tsim Sha Tsui campus opened in September 2024. TWC has a student population of 6,100+ (2026/27), a staff population of 400+ and has nurtured 8,100+ graduates to date, across 21 programmes (1 PhD, 1 master’s, 13 bachelor’s, 4 sub-degree, 1 diploma, 1 certificate).[6]
