A clearer Hong Kong study plan for families

Parents need the practical picture: recognised study options, total cost, application timing, accommodation, support boundaries and what must be confirmed before committing.

Before a student applies, families should review the programme choice, published entry information, annual tuition, payment timing, possible scholarship rules, accommodation and Hong Kong arrival needs. YD can help families understand the pathway and prepare questions, while TWC makes all admission and scholarship decisions.

Institution and accreditation facts

  • TWC was founded in March 2010 by the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals (TWGHs), one of Hong Kong’s largest and longest-serving charitable groups (established 1870).
  • TWC is registered under the Post Secondary Colleges Ordinance (Cap. 320) as a degree-awarding higher education institution (approved by the Education Bureau in April 2011).
  • TWC passed the HKCAAVQ Institutional Review without pre-conditions in September 2010.
  • HKCAAVQ Programme Area Accreditation: Occupational Therapy (April 2020), Biological Sciences (August 2024), Applied Social Sciences — Psychology and Gerontology (August 2025).
  • TWC teaches across four urban Kowloon campuses: King’s Park (Ho Man Tin), Mongkok, Kwai Hing and Tsim Sha Tsui — all MTR-connected.[1]

Where TWC students live

Official off-campus accommodation for non-local students

Tung Wah College provides official off-campus accommodation for non-local students.[2] The Tsim Sha Tsui Dorm (Youth Dorm) at 182 Nathan Road is operated by Youth Dorm HK — about a 3-minute walk from TWC’s Tsim Sha Tsui campus. Starting from the AY2026/27 intake, a second official dormitory, the Sheung Wan Dorm, joins the options — about a 20-minute MTR ride to the TST campus. Both dormitories are managed to give students a safe, convenient home away from home.

Rents are all-inclusive (utilities, high-speed Wi-Fi and management services) and are charged per person, per month. TST Dorm room types and rents in the AY2026/27 guide:

  • Single room: HK$12,500
  • Double room: HK$6,270 – HK$7,399
  • Triple room: HK$5,830 – HK$6,148
  • Quadruple room: HK$6,580 – HK$7,187

Rental is charged ×12 months plus a one-month deposit.

Speak to a Youth Dorm education specialist about the latest room options, availability and rents.

Important: accommodation arrangements are separate from admission. YD does not influence admissions — TWC makes all eligibility, admission, scholarship and offer decisions.

Why Youth Dorm

Youth Dorm is an education consultant and the official student dormitory operator and recruitment partner of Tung Wah College HK — a strategic partnership since AY2024/25.[3]

We bring 17 years of experience in Hong Kong education and have supported more than 1,000 students. Our team advises families on programme and school choices, handles application procedures and documents, prepares students for interviews, and supports every step of the move to Hong Kong.

Because the dormitory and the recruitment service sit under one roof, students get a one-stop, school-to-dormitory transition: a confirmed place, a safe room near campus, and one team looking after both. That is how we make the move to Hong Kong successful and safe — from the first enquiry to the first night in the dorm.

What families should know about support

Planning and guidance

YD can help families understand the published information, compare programmes, prepare questions and plan the pre-admission journey. The guidance on this hub covers only programmes currently listed as open to non-local applicants.

Hong Kong preparation

After an offer, families typically need to plan payment timing, visa steps, accommodation and arrival logistics. These steps depend on official decisions and the student’s circumstances, so YD treats them as planning topics rather than promises. See why study in Hong Kong for official visa and post-study work information.

Guardrail

YD can support planning and guidance. YD cannot guarantee admission, scholarships, visas, accommodation or future employment outcomes.
