This page reproduces the published requirements.

Hong Kong academic calendar — when does the academic year start?

The Hong Kong academic year at TWC
SemesterTiming
Semester 1September – December
Semester 2January – May
Semester 3 (certain majors only)June – July

The academic year works differently in India and Hong Kong. India’s school year typically runs June to May, and Class 12 board examinations (CBSE, CISCE and state boards) usually fall around February–March, with results released ahead of the intake. In Hong Kong, Semester 1 starts in September — typically a few months after the Indian school year ends. Plan your application timeline so your board results and English evidence are ready before the intake; a Youth Dorm representative can help you map your exam calendar to the TWC timeline.[4]

Common questions from Indian students

Can Indian students apply to Tung Wah College with Class 12 board certificates?

Yes. TWC publishes an India route for non-local bachelor’s degree applicants: completion of the Indian School Certificate, Higher Secondary Certificate or All India Senior School Certificate at Grade 12 level with an average of 75% in five subjects (State and National boards), plus the English requirement. Meeting the published minimum does not guarantee admission — TWC makes the final eligibility decision.

Can I use my Class 12 English mark instead of IELTS or TOEFL?

Yes. TWC’s English table lists a board-English route for India: 75% in the English subject of ISC / HSC / AISSC satisfies the English requirement. Alternatively you can use IELTS Academic 5.5, TOEFL iBT 70 (or 4 under the new TOEFL scoring from 21 January 2026), or another published English route.

Which programmes can Indian students apply to?

Indian students can apply to the TWC bachelor’s programmes that are open to non-local applicants — see programmes open to non-local applicants.[3]

Does meeting the minimum requirement guarantee admission?

No. Published requirements are the minimum for an application to be considered; they are only part of the assessment. TWC makes the final decision.
