Studying at TWC with an Indonesian SMA Ijazah

Tung Wah College HK welcomes Indonesian students. Indonesia does not yet have its own row on TWC’s official entry-requirements page, so your application is assessed on verifiable academic results. Check with Youth Dorm education specialists — we will help you confirm the right entry route and guide your application.

How TWC treats Indonesian qualifications

Tung Wah College HK welcomes applicants with qualifications from many education systems. If your country’s qualification is not listed on TWC’s official entry-requirements page, you can still apply with verifiable academic results — for example, your SMA/MA school-leaving certificate (Ijazah) and national examination results, or an international qualification such as the IB Diploma or GCE A-levels. TWC assesses your results against the entry standards of its programmes, all of which are accredited by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ) under the Hong Kong Qualifications Framework.[1]

  • No fixed grade threshold for the SMA Ijazah is published by TWC — none is invented here.
  • TWC assesses each application against the entry standards of the programme you choose.
  • English evidence is still required for degree programmes; TWC’s published English routes include IELTS Academic 5.5 and TOEFL iBT 70 (prior to 21 January 2026) / 4 (from 21 January 2026 onwards), with IELTS Online and TOEFL Home Edition acceptable.[2] See the full English requirements table.

Hong Kong academic calendar — when does the academic year start?

The Hong Kong academic year at TWC
SemesterTiming
Semester 1September – December
Semester 2January – May
Semester 3 (certain majors only)June – July

The academic year works differently in Indonesia and Hong Kong. Indonesia’s school year runs July to June, and SMA students typically finish around May/June — which lines up well with Semester 1 starting in September in Hong Kong. Because TWC assesses each application on its own results, start early so your documents and English evidence are ready well before the intake.

Common questions from Indonesian students

Can I apply to TWC with an SMA Ijazah?

Yes — you can apply with verifiable academic results. Indonesia does not yet have its own row on TWC’s official entry-requirements page, so TWC assesses your results — for example your SMA/MA Ijazah and national examination results, or an international qualification such as the IB Diploma or GCE A-levels — against the entry standards of its HKCAAVQ-accredited programmes. No fixed TWC grade threshold for the SMA Ijazah is published. Check with Youth Dorm education specialists to confirm your route; TWC makes the final eligibility decision.

What English evidence should I prepare?

TWC’s published English routes for degree programmes include IELTS Academic 5.5 and TOEFL iBT 70 (prior to 21 January 2026) / 4 (from 21 January 2026 onwards), with IELTS Online and TOEFL Home Edition acceptable. Check the full English requirements table before you book a test.

Which programmes could I apply to?

If TWC confirms your eligibility, you would choose from the bachelor’s programmes open to non-local applicants — see programmes open to non-local applicants. Programme availability for AY2027/28 must be confirmed when TWC opens the new cycle.
