TWC entry requirements for Singapore students (A-Level & polytechnic diploma)

Tung Wah College publishes official entry requirements for Singapore applicants to its bachelor’s degree programmes: the Singapore-Cambridge GCE Advanced Level route and a diploma route through five Singapore polytechnics. This page reproduces the published requirements.

The requirements below are TWC’s published minimum entrance requirements (not including English language) for bachelor’s degree programmes. TWC has not yet published AY2027/28 entry requirements, so the AY2026/27 published requirements below are the current reference.

Hong Kong academic calendar — when does the academic year start?

The Hong Kong academic year at TWC
SemesterTiming
Semester 1September – December
Semester 2January – May
Semester 3 (certain majors only)June – July

The academic year works differently in Singapore and Hong Kong. Singapore’s academic year usually starts in January (junior colleges / A-Levels), and polytechnic academic years differ again. In Hong Kong, Semester 1 starts in September — typically a few months after the Singapore school year ends. Plan your application timeline so your results and English evidence are ready before the intake; a Youth Dorm representative can help you map your exam calendar to the TWC timeline.

Common questions from Singapore students

Can Singapore-Cambridge A-Level students apply to Tung Wah College?

Yes. TWC publishes a Singapore route for non-local bachelor’s degree applicants: passes in 3 H2 subjects, or 2 H2 and 2 H1 subjects, plus the English requirement (Grade C or above in H1 General Paper, or another accepted English route). Meeting the published minimum does not guarantee admission — TWC makes the final eligibility decision.

Can polytechnic diploma holders apply?

TWC’s published Singapore route also accepts a diploma from Ngee Ann, Nanyang, Republic, Singapore, or Temasek Polytechnic. Diploma holders should check which English route applies to them — TWC’s English table lists several accepted examinations (for example IELTS Academic 5.5 or TOEFL iBT).

Which programmes can Singapore students apply to?

Singapore students can apply to the TWC bachelor’s programmes that are open to non-local applicants — see programmes open to non-local applicants.[3]

Does meeting the minimum requirement guarantee admission?

No. Published requirements are the minimum for an application to be considered; they are only part of the assessment. TWC makes the final decision.
